Making Test Tubes

I love my job and we get to make some pretty cool stuff, but, like every job, it has its boring parts. Like an order for 2,000 mini test tubes. So this is just a fun vid about that :) It's not too bad. I can listen to music and podcasts and audiobooks n stuff (life saver). All images and video footage is my own. Making a Distillation Head
Просмотров 7 тыс.7 лет назад
Just over a year into glassblowing and I make my first big piece of apparatus - a Distillation Head. I had some much needed help and guidance with the coil condenser section but I managed to blunder my way through the rest :D All photos and clips are my own. Where do you buy your safety gear? Like the jacket and face mask? Also, what rating are those shade glasses?
I wonder whats thats gonna be used for? Looks cool.
What hand torch and torch tips were you using?? The one kinda looked like a big victor and the other looks like a herbie or some German made torch.
👍👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️
Bonjour
can you melt and fuse together the frosted glass parts as well?
Hydrogen and air on the torch right?
Это великолепно!
Well done! Highly skilled work and artistic music.
Beautiful work
Fabuloso te felicito
Super metier, avec ce matos et ton skill t'est au sommet de ton art !
My kinda woman
Absolutely heroic
The music makes it like a video game and she's building a part to repair my spaceship.
Really enjoy watching you shape glass, where you work looks like wonderland with all the lathes and torches. You make it look effortless and easy when nothing could be further from the truth. In a future video I would be very interested in seeing your take on construction of a fermentation lock when you find the time. Cheers and best of luck in the New Year! 🥂
I used to work a lot of quartz in the 70's for the semiconductor industry. the bloom is best avoided by preheating the a couple of inchs up. We also used hydroflouric acid to etch it away. Never got UV burns, eyes are still fine 40 plus years. Interesting using hydrogen oxygen for heat, but never really liked working quartz vs borosilicate, yet you do what you are paid to.
What’s was it like back In the 70’s working scientific? Where people open with knowledge or did everyone keep to them self and not share information and techniques?
Seems like a huge level-up.
Respect!
sweet
Great repeat work ,great skill.
Great song, I would love to tell them what my worries are.
As a quartz specialised scientific glassblower I do enjoy watching work with bora silica, makes me think I got into the right profession, but wrong niche.
so awesome, amazing facility ❤
Soy argentino y admiro tu trabajo. Un gusto volver a verte. Por más trabajos de éstos.
thinking about how some of the most beautiful flowers only bloom every couple years ... ^^ you could probably make the same beaker every day for a year and I would watch it :D Thanks for this terrific insight though !
That was a long wait, Love it
Aye, apologies 🤣 far too busy for my own good!
Funny thing is I was thinking about you and your glassblowing videos a few minutes ago. Your videos are helping me a lot in getting my feet in scientific glassblowing. I'm really happy to see you're still on track. Really.
Thank you! When did you start the job? I hope you're enjoying it x
Love it :) awsome stuff and great skill
I'll bring some ice cream too.
so many talents , amazing . keep working hard kido
gee bill five necks???
Very informative,
How long does it takes to make this piece? Non speed up
Lovely version!
Pentabong.
Intima y genial. Enhorabuena
I regret many choices and now wish I'd done this with my life.
<3
I've always wondered how they get glass coils so uniform. That looks insanely tricky to do that over that rotating mandrel freeforming the position of the tubing and torch. Great vid!
Great vid, with some great looking results! That white flare-off from fused quartz looks so intense. I bet a lot of UV light is generated, hence the "sunburn". Good on you for taking PPE seriously. I've been working with pretty scary chemicals for 25+ years, and always admire folks that are smart and take time to wear protective equipment. Keep the great vids coming!
I usually comment while the video is playing once I get a good idea of what the video is about. Your scientific glassblowing skills had me watching intently until the bitter end. Subscribed. Please make more glassblowing vids. This is clearly a talent you have that many others do not.
This is amazing. I can't keep watching your glass blowing videos. Can anyone get into something like this? What sort of background is required, if any? I'm still looking for something to do with my life and this has long fascinated and intrigued me. Thanks!
Your work is absolutely amazing 😮
I have lots of questions about glass .. is anyone an expert here?
What exactly is a 5 necked Round bottom flask uses for ?
Awesome! what torch and tip are you using? thanks!
Beautiful
wow! so impressive and talented
Stunning artistry and craft.
